While the ever expedient, PR savvy Doc rambles on about not
yet putting in offensive plays for Pierce and Ray Allen, let
us not forget that our entire starting unit and eight of
our ten-man rotation are 2-yr. returning vets.
Meanwhile, Toronto has quietly accomplished a more dramatic
face lift than the embalmed Joan Rivers has after ten
surgeries.
Hard to believe but only three players (Bosh/Bargnani/Calderon)
have returned from Toronto’s 2008-09 ten-man rotation.
New additions are starters Turkoglu and talented rookie DeRozen,
plus an entire new bench of Jarrett Jack, Antoine Wright,
Reggie Evans, Amir Johnson, and Nesterovic, along with some
guys named Bellinelli and Weems.
Bosh is terrific, no doubt about it. Bargnani appears to
finally be coming into his own at least offensively.
PG Calderon is totally underrated, Turkoglu is a huge upgrade
at SF,and rookie SG DeRozen is looking pretty damn good
while defensive stopper Antoine Wright has been out with
an injury.
Call me crazy (love that expression) but I actually think
if Toronto’s newcomers can get healthy and come together
after about 25 games that they would be capable of
beating us old tired legs (come October) in a seven-game
playoff series.
